Sometimes in life, we're struggling to find our foundations. We ask questions like "Who am I?" and "what am I going to do with my life?"

But once the foundations are laid, then what? After all, what purpose is there to having a foundation if you're not going to build anything on top of it?

If you've ever seen a major architectural work, you know how beautiful a building can be. But very few people have thought the same about a foundation. If anyone has, it was probably because they recognized that it was a good place to build. The foundation is immensely important - but it's only the beginning of the project.

We can all be builders, in one sense or another. When we have a solid foundation, we can use that as a platform to build amazing things. Even better, you're not exclusively restricted to your own building. With approval from the owner, you can invest in building on others - and when you do, both people reap the benefits.

That being said, building doesn't work so well if there's not a solid foundation - and you'll find out pretty quick whether your foundation is strong enough. If you have an unstable foundation, it will crumble under stress. Without the right foundation, building drops from fulfilling to frustrating.

If you're finding you're building unable to stand (or even just a little wobbly), perhaps it would be worth revisiting the foundation?
